For the first time in a very long time, Jrue Holiday will be playing in the Fiserv Forum as an opponent of the Milwaukee Bucks. The two-time All-Star will be returning to his former stomping ground on Thursday as the Bucks host the mighty Boston Celtics, who currently own the best record in the NBA today.
Holiday returns to Milwaukee for the first time since his blockbuster trade move in the offseason.
Jrue Holiday Has Nothing But Love for Milwaukee Bucks
Once the game tips off, you can be sure that Holiday will do everything and anything he can to help his team take down the Bucks. However, beyond the game, the 33-year-old has nothing but love for his former team and the city he called home for three years:
“I think just kind of the feeling we get when we think about Milwaukee, how when we first went – didn’t really know what to expect,” he said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “And then at this point knowing that like, it’s a place that will always be dear and near to our hearts, is a good feeling.”
When the Bucks sent Holiday packing this past summer, the veteran guard had to uproot his entire family. This proved to be an extremely difficult situation not only for Holiday, but for his wife, Lauren, and their two kids as well.
Be that as it may, even Lauren has nothing but fond memories of the city of Milwaukee:
“I think Milwaukee is such a special place,” Lauren said. “I feel like we were there for a reason, not only to give back to that community but for them to pour into us. It truly feels like home when we’re there. Our kids, the team, the organization, everyone feels like family like that. And then to have our grantees there too has just been a bonus. So I feel like really being in Milwaukee – when my friend said, hey, you’re there for a reason – it was also for us, too. And that’s been really cool.”
Bucks fans are expected to give Jrue Holiday a very warm Milwaukee welcome once he sets foot on the court again on Thursday.
