Former Milwaukee Bucks star Jrue Holiday made his highly-anticipated Boston Celtics preseason debut on Sunday. The Celtics faced off against a Philadelphia 76ers side that was missing the service of both Joel Embiid and James Harden, and Boston took full advantage.
After a hard-fought contest, the Celtics emerged victorious at the TD Garden, 114-106.
Jrue Holiday Speaks Out on Celtics Debut
Holiday came off the bench in his first game as a Celtic, and he spent just 22 minutes on the floor. The two-time All-Star did look a bit rusty, going just 2-of-10 from the field for six points, two triples, five rebounds, an assist, and two steals.
It wasn’t exactly a stellar debut from the veteran combo guard, but at this point, Holiday is just pleased to have gotten off the mark for his new team:
“It felt good,” he said after the win, via Celtics on CLNS on Twitter. “Crowd’s crazy. The energy in the building’s crazy. First preseason game, so it was fun to get out there and just kinda get my feet wet.”
Jrue Holiday Gets Real on Milwaukee Bucks Trade
Holiday was then asked if he felt a bit weird playing again after going through a highly-publicized trade saga that saw him stunningly part ways with the Bucks, the five-time All-Defense guard got brutally honest in his response:
“I think I’m over it at this point,” Holiday said. “Just trying to focus on the season. Trying to get acclimated and honestly, go out there and have fun. All the trade stuff I think is kinda passed. I’ve been going through a whirlwind here, just trying to figure out names and plays and teams, and all that stuff. It’s been fun, though.”

It didn’t take long for Holiday to move past all the drama that was brought about by his offseason moves. This just speaks volumes of how much of a consummate professional he truly is. Bucks fans will miss Jrue Holiday, for sure.
