The Boston Celtics gave up a lot to acquire the services of ex-Milwaukee Bucks star Jrue Holiday. They struck a deal with the Portland Trail Blazers that saw Boston give up Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams, and two future first-round picks in order to get their hands on Holiday.
It goes without saying that the Celtics will be looking to get some return on their massive investment in the near future.
Former Milwaukee Bucks Star Jrue Holiday Willing to Do Whatever It Takes for Celtics

For his part, Holiday knows exactly why Boston brought him in. According to the two-time All-Star, he’s willing to do whatever it takes to help the Celtics achieve their ultimate objective:
“Whatever they need, I’ll do,” Holiday told NBC Sports Boston. “Obviously, last year, being an All-Star for the second time, bulk of the year, having the ball and making decisions and putting the ball in the basket, it’s probably going to be different.
“We have two great, great scorers (in Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown). Guys down the stretch who we’ll be going to. And there might be times where maybe I need to do that, but for the most part, I know that in certain areas of my game I’m going to have to take a backseat.
“Honestly, I’m here to win. I feel like whatever it takes to win, that’s what I’ll do.”

Holiday is also well aware of the fact that Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown are the top dogs in Boston. Much like he did in Milwaukee, Holiday is more than willing to let his superstar teammates do their thing on the basketball court. Jrue found a lot of success as a third option for the Bucks, and this is exactly what he is hoping for with his new team.
Jrue Holiday Looking to Guide Jayson Tatum, Jaylen Brown

It’s not just that that Holiday brings to the table for the Celtics. According to the five-time All-Defense combo guard, he also intends to help Tatum and Brown take the next step in their quest for a championship:
“Hopefully I can kind of instill in them, or even just talk to them and tell them like how hard it really is,” said Holiday. “You don’t know how hard it is until you’ve gone through it. I mean, they’ve been close and they’ve been close in doing it for a long time, but maybe I just bring some experience that can help them in certain situations, kind of give us the advantage in certain situations, where it just makes the game easier for them.
“And they are our two best players and the guys that we’re going to rely on.”
As he said in his statement above, Holiday knows a thing or two about winning a title. He has Giannis Antetokounmpo and Co. to thank for that. He is now hoping that his experience in Milwaukee is what’s going to give Boston the edge as they look to finally bag a championship in 2023-24.
