Apparently, Philadelphia 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey is a liar. This is according to soon-to-be ex-Sixers superstar James Harden, who incidentally, has (had?) a relationship with the high-ranking executive stemming back from their days with the Houston Rockets.
Harden has made it clear that he has no intention of returning to Philly, thereby accelerating a potential trade deal with the Los Angeles Clippers. Nevertheless, there seems to be no movement on that front. Could a team like the Milwaukee Bucks pounce on this situation?
Milwaukee Bucks Land James Harden in Massive Blockbuster Trade
Lee Tran of Fadeaway World listed three surprising landing spots for Harden amid the latest development in this prolonged saga. The Milwaukee Bucks were No. 1 on the list in what can be considered a pretty wild blockbuster trade:
Milwaukee Bucks Receive: James Harden
Philadelphia 76ers Receive: Jrue Holiday
It’s a straight-up swap for the Sixers and the Bucks, who for their part, will need to bid farewell to Jrue Holiday. Tran argues that this could be the landscape-shifting deal Milwaukee needs to take amid its recent woes:
“The Milwaukee Bucks have stagnated as a squad since their 2021 championship, and it is unclear if the team is truly championship-level as of right now. A risky move could make a huge difference for them, and James Harden could be the right player for them to get given his offensive capabilities,” Tran wrote.
Seeing how Harden fits alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo would be interesting, to say the least. However, given how Harden thrived playing alongside Joel Embiid in Philly, it makes sense that the former will also be able to bring a lot to the table for Giannis and the Bucks. He’s no longer the 30-point threat night after night, but his elite playmaking skills are an extremely valuable asset that could work wonders for Milwaukee and their title hopes this season.
Philadelphia 76ers Swap James Harden for Jrue Holiday
The prodigal son makes his return to Philadelphia in this proposed blockbuster deal as Jrue Holiday heads back to the same team that drafted him back in 2009. You could argue that he’s a far better player now than he was during his first stint in Philly. At the moment, Holiday is one of the top two-way guards in the NBA, and while he’s not at James Harden’s level, Holiday is still a pretty solid playmaker. His defense, on the other hand, is elite, giving the Sixers a truly formidable defensive lineup led by Holiday and Embiid.
