At this point, training camp for all 30 NBA teams will start in around a month and a half’s time. At this point, Damian Lillard is still with the Portland Trail Blazers. At this point, James Harden is still with the Philadelphia 76ers.
We’ve all been eagerly anticipating what could easily be the biggest blockbuster trades of the summer, but apparently, nothing is imminent right now.
NBA Rumors: No Movement on Damian Lillard, James Harden Trades
ESPN’s NBA insider Brian Windhorst provided rather inconspicuous updates on the Dame Lillard and James Harden trade fronts. Apparently, the momentum on their potential moves has all but died down completely.
“I don’t think there’s any active trade talks in the NBA right now,” Windhorst said on Monday’s episode of The Hoop Collective podcast. (h/t Joseph Zucker of Bleacher Report). “Certainly not active for Dame Lillard. And I don’t think there’s anything active for James Harden.”
We all know how the Miami Heat have been doing all they can to bring Lillard to South Beach. To a certain extent, the Los Angeles Clippers have also made their move on Harden. However, neither the Philadelphia 76ers nor the Portland Trail Blazers likes the offers they’ve received for their respective want-away superstars. It also seems that neither the Heat nor the Clippers are willing to up the ante, so to speak, thereby forcing both deals to be at an apparent and problematic deadlock.
NBA Rumors: James Harden Trade Saga Reaches Boiling Point
“Liar.” That’s how James Harden described Sixers general manager Daryl Morey in a recent unfiltered tirade. He called him a liar twice too, before declaring that he has no intention of playing under Morey ever again.
This outburst probably stemmed from reports stating that the Sixers were pulling Harden off the trade market after they failed to agree a deal with the Los Angeles Clippers on a potential blockbuster trade. It’s very much possible that the former league MVP caught wind of this development and he just had to take matters into his own hands.
All of a sudden, a potential James Harden trade this summer is back on.
