Milwaukee Bucks news: Very few players out there have had the privilege of being teammates with both Giannis Antetokounmpo and Stephen Curry. Donte DiVincenzo can count himself as part of this extremely small group.
This also means that DiVincenzo, who currently plies his trade with the New York Knicks, has some valuable insight about these two generational superstars. As a matter of fact, the one-time NBA champ has revealed one major similarity between Antetokounmpo and Curry.
Former Milwaukee Bucks Guard Donte DiVincenzo Compares Giannis to Steph Curry
Speaking on a recent episode of The Roommates podcast with Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart, DiVincenzo acknowledged the fact that in terms of their style of play, Giannis and Steph couldn’t be any different. At the same time, however, these two former MVPs have one unifying characteristic — one that allows them to rise above the rest of the pack:
“Steph and Giannis have a lot of differences obviously in how they play the game, but the similarity is how they approach every single day and how they want to be the best in the NBA and how they want to be the best person on your team,” DiVincenzo said (h/t Jack Winter of ClutchPoints). “The gap between him [Steph] and the next guy in terms of pure work is insane and I was only around it for not even 12 months. Giannis I spent four years with him and every single day he was in the gym, even days where you have blackout days where no one is allowed in the gym he’s still there so I think you know it’s a credit to them how much time and effort they put in and playing with them is so much fun. It’s like one of those things you get to tell your kids after all the basketball stuff is over.”
That’s just awesome. We all know how much hard work both Giannis and Curry put in on a daily basis, but it just hits differently coming from a former teammate. DiVincenzo would not have become the player he is today had it not been for his own work ethic, but for him to have this level of astonishment over Antetokounmpo and Steph’s commitment to their craft is just awe-inspiring.
