Damian Lillard Sets Twitter Ablaze After Leading Giannis-Less Milwaukee Bucks Side to Comeback Win Vs. Clippers

The Milwaukee Bucks came into Monday’s contest against the Los Angeles Clippers as the underdogs. This was after Giannis Antetokounmpo was ruled out just hours before the game due to a concerning Achilles injury.

Khris Middleton was also out of action in this one, which meant that most of the offensive load had to fall on the shoulders of Damian Lillard. Dame understood his assignment and he absolutely delivered.

It was a tight contest throughout as the Clippers flexed their superiority on both ends of the floor for the majority of the game. Entering the fourth quarter, the Bucks were down 81-73. And then, Dame Time happened.

Lillard led the Bucks to a blistering 13-0 run in the final period to secure the win, 113-106. The eight-time All-Star finished with 41 points on 12-of-22 shooting, to go along with four rebounds, four assists, a steal, and four triples in 42 minutes of action.

No Giannis, no Middleton, no problem.

This was indeed a statement performance from Lillard with two of his star teammates sidelined. Twitter certainly took notice:

    Damian Lillard tonight:

    4 Rebounds
    4 Assists
    54% FG pic.twitter.com/YaIAQedwML

No Giannis, no problem for the Bucks as they storm back late in the 4th quarter to secure the victory over the Clippers and win their 6th in a row 🔥

    Damian Lillard:
    41 points, 12-of-22 FG, 13-of-13 FT

    Dame without Giannis:

    41 PTS
    4 3P

Not to take away from how good the other Bucks were tonight, but no other PG in the league is beating James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, and Paul George without his 1st and 3rd best players. Damian Lillard is my point guard.

At this point, it remains unclear when Giannis and Middleton will be able to return. If these two end up sitting out more games then it would not be a surprise to see Lillard go off on one of his famed scoring runs in the next week or so.
