The Milwaukee Bucks remain undefeated in five games after the All-Star break. This is after they took care of business on Friday night in a hard-fought victory against Central Division rivals, the Chicago Bulls, 113-97.
Once again, Giannis Antetokounmpo led the charge for Milwaukee, dropping a 46-point, 16-rebound double-double in another majestic performance for the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player.
Milwaukee Bucks Talisman Giannis Antetokounmpo Rallied the Troops
Patrick Beverley, who finished with 14 points, four rebounds, two assists, and two triples in 18 minutes of action, spoke out after Friday’s win about Milwaukee’s recent surge. According to the three-time All-Defense guard, Giannis’ post-All-Star break message did wonders in firing up the troops:
“I think we’ve been on a string lately. Obviously,” Beverley said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We came back from all-star break, Giannis stood up and gave us a huge message – stay focused, game-to-game, don’t look to the future. I think after that conversation I think we kind of dove in and kind of settled in. Obviously Doc gave us our roles, what he wanted us to do. You got your leader like that, you got your coach like that, you know your role, the game comes a lot easier.”
Beverley definitely looks like he knows his role on the Bucks. He’s been quite a revelation since his mid-season arrival, and as he said, the fact that the team has Giannis and Coach Doc Rivers leading the charge has a lot to do with the same.
Beverley, Antetokounmpo, and the rest of the Bucks now get a couple of nights off to rest and recuperate. They get back to the grind on Monday against the 38-20 Los Angeles Clippers.
Milwaukee has a tough stretch ahead, but as Giannis said in his message, it’s all about taking it one game at a time.
