The Milwaukee Bucks came into Sunday’s contest against the Philadelphia 76ers with a lot of momentum on their side. This was after the Bucks impressively took down the best team in the Western Conference, the Minnesota Timberwolves, on their own home floor on Friday night, 112-107.
Giannis Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 33 points in their win against the Wolves, and the Bucks talisman made sure to keep his foot on the gas on Sunday at the Wells Fargo Center.
Giannis Antetokounpo Reacts to Milwaukee Bucks’ Huge Win Vs. 76ers
After the game, Giannis sounded off on how the Bucks built on their momentum from Friday’s big win to secure another victory on Sunday against an East contender. The eight-time All-Star heaped praise on this team as the Bucks stepped up their defense against the Sixers:
“We did make it count,” Antetokounmpo said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “We just gotta carry over, carry over, carry over. It’s gotta be the key word for us. But at the end of the day I feel like we’re feeling like ourselves. Playing hard, we move the ball, we are defending better. We’re just playing, we’re just playing hard. We’re playing hard.
“So, from the Minnesota game where in the third quarter we kept them to 13 points, today we kept them in the fourth quarter to 16 points. That’s what we do. We have to keep on doing that.”
Giannis, who amassed 30 points, 12 rebounds, nine assists, and a block on Sunday, singled out the likes of Damian Lillard, Brook Lopez, and Bobby Portis in what was a total team effort for the Bucks:
“The ball is moving, everyone’s touching the ball,” he continued. “Bobby (Portis) is being Bobby, Brook (Lopez) is blocking shots, making shots, being a presence in the paint. Dame (Lillard) is just hooping, making shots, making decisions for everybody. Our shooters are spacing the floor for us and they’re ready to shoot. So, playing good basketball. Playing good basketball right now.”
Milwaukee didn’t even have Khris Middleton available for this one as the veteran swingman continues to nurse a lingering ankle injury.
The Bucks are back in action on Tuesday against the Charlotte Hornets and you just know that Giannis and Co. will be determined to get another win in that one.
