The Milwaukee Bucks started the post NBA All-Star break portion of their schedule on the right foot, defeating the Western Conference’s top team, the Minnesota Timberwolves, on the road 112-107. Giannis Antetokounmpo had 33 points, 13 rebounds, and five assists to lead Milwaukee. Damian Lillard was one rebound shy of a triple-double, adding 21 points, 10 assists, and nine rebounds.
It was definitely a win that the Bucks needed, or so their fans on social media would have you believe. Still, it showed that this team, which many have written off after being on their third head coach in less than 12 months, can hang with the best teams in the NBA.
It truly has not been the kind of season that Milwaukee had envisioned when they started it. Adrian Griffin was fired 43 games into the season despite having a 30-13 record. Lillard has not played up to his standard for a variety of reasons. The Bucks’ bench, too, has been disappointing.
One of the more frustrating aspects of the season has been the health of Khris Middleton. After being worked along slowly to start the season and get his knee back into game shape, he suffered a sprained ankle against the Phoenix Suns when Kevin Durant stuck his foot under Middleton’s foot on a jump shot attempt. He has not played since.

According Eric Nehm of The Athletic, Rivers says the Bucks will have Middleton back soon:
Doc Rivers on Khris Middleton, who has missed the first two games out of the All-Star Break with a left ankle sprain:
“He’s getting closer. I don’t know if I’m going to say close enough that we could think next game, but he’s getting a lot closer. He’s feeling a lot better.”

During the ABC broadcast of the game versus the Philadelphia 76ers, it was reported that Rivers also stated that the goal is to get Middleton 100% for the NBA Playoffs. If today had been a Playoff game, Middleton would have played.
