Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo Sees Victor Wembanyama Winning MVP, NBA Championship, But There’s a Catch

The Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo recently dropped a LeBron James-level prediction about Victor Wembanyama becoming the face of the league in the coming years. He also said that the San Antonio Spurs can become a champion and MVP, but there’s a catch involved.

During the first week of 2024, Antetokounmpo and Wembanyama met in a battle for the ages. In that particular game, the latter showed off by posting 27 points on 55 percent shooting from the field, nine rebounds, one assist, one steal, and five blocks.

While those numbers looked great, Antetokounmpo had the edge that night. The Greek Freak dropped 44 points on 67 percent shooting from the field, 14 rebounds, seven assists, two steals, and a block against Wembanyama and the Spurs. In the end, Milwaukee won with a score of 125-121.

Although the Spurs have been horrible this season, the outlook on Wembanyama’s future in the NBA has been very bright. And among those who are looking forward to the rookie’s career is no other than Antetokounmpo himself.

Just like James, Antetokounmpo sees Wembanyama becoming a champion and MVP in the future. The thing is, there’s something he must do for those things to happen. According to an article by the San Antonio Express News:

“As long as Victor is healthy, he’s going to accomplish everything,” Antetokounmpo said. “He’s going to be a champion, be an MVP in this league, do all the things, the goals he has set for himself. That’s pretty much it.”

In this season alone, Wembanyama has missed a total of five games for the Spurs, with some due to minor injuries. All in all, though, he has played a good chunk of contests for San Antonio, despite having a restriction on his playing time on the court.

Similar to how Antetokounmpo built up some muscle in the past, it seems Wembanyama needs to follow the Greek Freak’s route if he wants to become the NBA’s best player. Only time can tell whether the Bucks star is right on the rookie or not.
