There’s absolutely no denying that a lot will be at stake for the Milwaukee Bucks this coming season. They went all-in this summer by pulling the trigger on a blockbuster trade for Damian Lillard, which now has them moving up as one of the favorites to win the championship in 2023-24.
It goes without saying that there’s going to be a lot of pressure on the Bucks to perform this year.
Giannis Antetokounmpo’s Message for Milwaukee Bucks
In the middle of all the hype is Giannis Antetokounmpo. After all, you could say that he lit the fuse on this ticking time bomb when he threatened to leave Milwaukee if he didn’t win a championship in the near future. The Bucks have done their part; it’s now time for the seven-time All-Star to deliver on his end of the bargain.
The good news for Milwaukee fans is that Giannis likes what he sees from his team thus far. The arrival of new head coach Adrian Griffin has had a lot to do with this as the new shot-caller breeds an environment of intense competition between the group.
Antetokounmpo is all in:
“Previously, in other years, it was a different philosophy,” Antetokounmpo said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “But I’m really, like right now, I’m really enjoying this. It’s extremely competitive. I love when guys are going out there and they’re trying to compete to win games. And I think this is going to carry over through the season. And this is all we need, like we need to take that pride. We need to take that challenge.”
It’s good to hear that the team is on the same page right now. Then again, this is something you would expect entering a new season. Spirits are undeniably high and the entire team is excited to kick off a new era in their franchise history.
The true test will come for this group when they start losing. It’s not as if the Bucks are going to go 82-0 this coming season, and this new-look roster will have some growing pains along the way. It’s how they bounce back from inevitable adversity that should determine the fortitude of this squad. Without it, though, they could be in some real trouble.
