While it’s unfortunate Doc Rivers’ coaching debut for the Milwaukee Bucks ended in a loss to the Denver Nuggets, Giannis Antetokounmpo’s mindset is one that will excite fans.
In that particular contest, the Greek Freak came out with guns blazing by posting 29 points on 57 percent efficiency from the field, 12 rebounds, four assists, a single steal, and a block in 36 minutes on the court. The two-time MVP was also the only Bucks player to score more than 20 points against the Nuggets that night.
On the other side of the fence, the duo of Jamal Murray and Nikola Jokic showed why they’re the defending champions. The former led all scorers by garnering 35 points, while the latter ended the night with a triple double of 25 points, 16 rebounds, and 12 assists.
Even if the Bucks fell to Denver at the start of their road trip out west, there’s still hope Antetokounmpo leads the team to give Rivers his first win as their head coach.

Although some may see the loss as foreboding for Rivers’ stint with the Bucks, Antetokounmpo sees it another way. In a tweet the Greek Freak posted on X:

That sense of optimism in the face of defeat only means Antetokounmpo is fired up for what the Milwaukee Bucks can do for the rest of the season. For the first time in his career, he’s playing with a point guard like Damian Lillard, the roster is filled with experienced veterans, and Rivers is there to coach them.
With those elements in play, it’s pretty hard not to be stoked about Antetokounmpo’s perspective on the Bucks’ ceiling this season. Teams across the league should take notice, as there’s every chance Milwaukee is going to find its groove sooner rather than later.
