Around a week after the Milwaukee Bucks fired Adrian Griffin, Doc Rivers made his coaching debut on the road against the Denver Nuggets. The thing is, the game didn’t end the way he and the team expected it to be.

Just recently, the Bucks started their road trip by visiting the Denver Nuggets at home. Unfortunately, though, Milwaukee lost to the Nikola Jokic-led squad to a score of 113-107.

In that contest, Jamal Murray led all players with 35 points, two rebounds, five assists, and two stealls while Nikola Jokic added 25 points, 16, rebounds, and 12 assists. Meanwhile, Giannis Antetokounmpo led the Bucks with 29 points, 12 rebounds, and four assists.

This loss comes after the Milwaukee Bucks decimated the New Orleans Pelicans in a 141-117 game recently. That contest, according to Bobby Portis, gave them the momentum to head out West for their trip against various teams in the said conference.

Speaking before the media after the game, Doc Rivers addresses the loss and what he finds encouraging from the team.

According to Rivers, he thinks that the Bucks lost on the offensive side of things to the Nuggets. When it came to their performance on defense, though, the one-time Coach of the Year awardee liked what he saw with his players, especially with Milwaukee’s second unit.

In essence, Rivers found the fight within from the Bucks and it’s encouraging moving forward for his coaching tenure in Milwaukee. Even though his debut ended in a loss to the defending champions, there’s hope that things will pick up in the right direction in the coming days.
