Game 1 is in the books for new Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers, who made his debut for his new team on Monday against the Denver Nuggets. Unfortunately for the one-time NBA champion shot-caller, the result of the game did not go in his or his team’s favor.
After a hard-fought battle, it was the Nuggets who secured a marquee win over the Bucks, 113-107.
NBA Twitter Reacts to Doc Rivers’ First Game for Milwaukee Bucks
Despite the loss, there were some positives to be taken away from Monday’s game for the Bucks. For one, their defense looked better in this one. It’s not as if Rivers has already transformed this squad into a Top 5 defensive team in the NBA overnight, but there certainly is a lot to be optimistic about.
In the end, however, Milwaukee just couldn’t contain Denver’s superstar duo of Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray, who combined for 60 points between them.
Unsurprisingly, the naysayers were more than happy to point out that Rivers failed his new team in his first game out. They took their celebrations to Twitter as they clowned the new Bucks shot-caller:

The haters are obviously rejoicing, but let’s not forget that this is just one game.
Rivers and the Bucks are back in action on Wednesday against the Portland Trail Blazers.
