For the second time this season, Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo has been named the NBA Player of the Week in the Eastern Conference. The former back-to-back MVP earned this honor after amassing eye-popping averages of 29.5 points on 60.5 percent shooting, 14.5 rebounds, 8.3 assists, 1.5 steals, and 1.3 blocks per game in Week 14.
Antetokounmpo led Milwaukee to a 3-1 record during this past week, which incidentally, coincides with the firing of rookie head coach Adrian Griffin.

Giannis was announced as the East Player of the Week on Monday afternoon ahead of Milwaukee’s showdown against Nikola Jokic and the Denver Nuggets. It’s also going to be Doc Rivers’ first game in charge as the new Bucks head coach.

This will be the second time Antetokounmpo will be taking home this award after being honored with the same title in Week 8. It was Luka Doncic who was Giannis’ West counterpart earlier in the season, but this time around, Phoenix Suns superstar Devin Booker has been named the best player in the Western Conference for the recently concluded week.
The Suns host the Bucks next Tuesday in what will be the fifth and final game of Milwaukee’s current five-game road stand.
It is worth noting that Antetokounmpo put up these numbers amid the sudden departure of Griffin, whom the Bucks fired on Wednesday. Griffin was still sitting at the helm for Milwaukee’s first game of the week, but it was interim head coach Joe Prunty who coached the Bucks to a 2-1 record after Griffin’s exit.
