The Milwaukee Bucks gave up Cameron Payne and a second-round pick to the Philadelphia 76ers in order to acquire the services of Patrick Beverley. This could end up as a bargain if Beverley is able to live up to the expectations now that he’s in Milwaukee.
If you ask head coach Doc Rivers, however, the 62-year-old is adamant that Beverley is going to be an integral part of Milwaukee’s goals this season.
Doc Rivers Sounds Off on What Patrick Beverley Brings for Milwaukee Bucks

Rivers and Beverley go way back. These two crossed paths during their time together with the Los Angeles Clippers and it is clear that they forged quite a player-coach relationship during that time.
Rivers knows Beverley well. This is exactly why the Bucks coach is confident that the feisty guard will be a significant addition to the squad moving forward:
“He’s just competitive,” Rivers said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “That word can’t be used enough. He looks at every game as a individual competition that he’s supposed to win.
“He looks at the guys he’s guarding as an individual competition that he’s supposed to win. What I like about him, what I like about most guys like him, they have short memories. You’re not going to hurt his pride if you score on him. He’s coming back at you. And those guys are rare in our league.”

Coach Doc hit the nail on the head here. There are very few individuals in the NBA today like Beverley.
He talks a tough game and he’s able to back it up with his ferociousness and unrelenting mindset. As Rivers said, Pat Bev doesn’t mind if opponents get the better of him on the defensive end. After all, he knows that this is inevitable. He’ll just get right back to it on the very next play.
