For the first time ever, Damian Lillard will be playing against the Portland Trail Blazers in Portland. The Milwaukee Bucks already hosted his former team earlier in the season but Wednesday marks the first time Dame returns to his former home city.
This also means that Lillard will be headed to the visitor’s locker room at Moda Center — something that Dame himself admitted caused a bit of confusion on his end.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Felt ‘Weird’ in Return to Moda Center
Speaking ahead of Wednesday’s tip-off, Lillard shared his experience in the Moda Center as he entered the arena as a Buck. Dame admitted that as a force of habit, he almost went inside the home team’s locker room:
“It was weird,” Lillard said, via Eric Nehm of The Athletic. “I walked in and as I was coming in, I was instinctively about keep walking down the hall…I really didn’t know where to go. I had never been in the visitor’s locker room until today.”
This isn’t surprising at all considering how Lillard spent the first 11 years of his career with the Blazers. Naturally, there are just some habits that won’t go away that easily and apparently, this includes heading into the home locker room at the Moda Center.
Make no mistake about it, though. Dame knows which team he’s playing for and he will do everything he can to help the Bucks take down the Blazers in what is going to be an emotional return to Portland.
