There’s no question about Damian Lillard’s loyalty to the Milwaukee Bucks. After all, the 33-year-old is a consummate professional and he will do everything he can to help his team achieve their goals. This includes giving it all he has on Wednesday night as the Bucks try and take down his former team, the Portland Trail Blazers.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard Never Planned Blazers Exit
There’s a lot of emotions riding on Lillard’s return to Portland. Naturally, the eight-time All-Star himself has been through a bit of a roller coaster over the past couple of days as he relives the events that led to his heartbreaking Blazers exit this past summer.
For his part, Dame is already anticipating a surge of emotions once he steps inside the Moda Center for the first time as a member of the opposing team. Lillard also took the opportunity to drop a heartfelt confession about never wanting to leave Portland in the first place:
“I think it’ll always be like any emotional thing just because I loved living and playing in Portland,” Lillard said after the team’s Monday shootaround, via Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian. “I never had plans to not play for the Blazers. So, I think because of that being a genuine feeling, I don’t think it will ever leave. But I think sometimes you’ve got to make hard decisions for what you want ultimately.”
Lillard already planned out his entire career and he had every intention of retiring as a Blazers. As he said, however, plans change.
Ultimately, he felt that it was in his best interest to move on. As hard as it was, Lillard just had to go. Dame does not seem to have any regrets about all this, but it still doesn’t make it any easier.
