Damian Lillard spent 11 memorable years with the Portland Trail Blazers before deciding to take his talents to the Milwaukee Bucks this past summer. It was an incredibly tough decision to make for him but according to Dame himself, it was one that he felt was necessary at this point in his career.
One of the hardest parts of leaving Portland was having to bid farewell to the fans. After all, the fans matched Lillard’s loyalty to the city and the team by giving him their unwavering support for more than a decade.
Milwaukee Bucks Star Damian Lillard ‘Excited’ to Play in Front of Blazers Fans
Speaking ahead of his highly-anticipated return to the Moda Center, Lillard admitted that this is going to be much more than just a typical basketball game. According to the 33-year-old, he’s also very much looking forward to playing in front of his family, and of course, his former fans:
“My excitement isn’t all about playing against the Blazers,” he said, via Aaron Fentress of The Oregonian. “It’s more about having my kids there and my family there and just being able to go home. And I’m excited to play in front of the fans and to see everybody.”
Lillard may no longer call the Moda Center home, but the fans still hold a special place in his heart. In fact, he expects to see some familiar faces on Wednesday night once he takes the court:
“I’m going to look in the crowd and I’m going to recognize the faces like I know them because I’ve seen them so many times for so many years,” Lillard said.
Just imagine what it would be like if Lillard hits a trademark Dame Time game-winner in the Moda Center on Wednesday night in front of the Blazers fans. That would be an extremely special moment, no doubt.
