Milwaukee Bucks: 3 Teams That Threatens Their Title Hopes

The Milwaukee Bucks are looking to appear that they can be one of the best teams to come out of the Eastern Conference. However, they have three teams that can threaten their title hopes.

You can never count the Miami Heat out of a possible run to the finals. They recently appeared in the 2020 and 2023 NBA Finals, becoming the first NBA team to go to the finals as a play-in team. As of this article, the Miami Heat are currently 8th in the Eastern Conference standings.

Miami beat the Milwaukee Bucks 4-1 in the first round of the playoffs last year. The Bucks did sweep them in the first round of the 2021 playoffs as they went on to win it all. In 2020, Miami got past the Bucks in the conference semi-finals with a 4-1 series win as they went on to the NBA finals versus the Lakers.

Miami and Milwaukee were seen as two of the league’s most defensive teams until the Bucks traded Jrue Holiday to Boston. In order for the Bucks to surpass Miami, they would have to find holes in Miami’s excruciating defense. They must remain healthy, as Giannis was injured during their last playoff battle. Hopefully, Khris Middleton will remain healthy and provide more offensive firepower for Milwaukee.

The Up & Coming Boston Celtics

People often forget how consistent the Celtics have been since their small rebuild period in 2013-2016. The Celtics have a consistent playoff presence and have eliminated the Bucks twice in the playoffs in the past six years. Not to mention, Boston has been in the Eastern Conference Finals four times in the last six years. They were in the 2022 NBA Finals against the Warriors.

Many people say that Boston got Jrue Holiday from the Milwaukee Bucks for “a pack of Lays and some Marlboro cigarettes” with how low-risk, high-reward that trade was for them. Plus, they have the best record in the league and seem like the team to beat. They have the perfect mix of young stars, including Tatum and Brown, and veteran leadership in Horford, Holiday, and Porzingis.

Can The Cavaliers Make A Surprising Title Run?

The Cavaliers are an interesting team to consider. I would have put the Knicks on this list, but they have players recovering from injuries like Mitchell Robinson, OG Anunoby, and even Julius Randle, who are just in time for the playoffs. Who knows if they’ll be 100% at that point?

Meanwhile, the Cavaliers have been one of the hotter teams in the league, like the Bucks. Both teams have won most of their games after the All-Star break. They have been a healthy team this season and have a mix of veterans like Donovan Mitchell, Jarrett Allen, and Caris LeVert, along with young players like Dean Wade and Issac Okoro.

We’ve seen teams get hot in the second half of the season and have significant playoff success, like the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics. The Cavaliers are also the 3rd seed and are looking to take the 2 seed from Milwaukee Bucks.
