Milwaukee Brewers shortstop Willy Adames has not had the year he or his fans expected. He was expected to be one of the biggest offensive contributors on the team, but a down year has spiraled out of control. Adames commented on his struggles ahead of the Milwaukee Brewers game against the Colorado Rockies on August 7th when he was given a rare day off.
What did the Milwaukee Brewers shortstop say?

“It’s been the worst time in my career”
-Willy Adames
Adam McCalvy reported that Adames understands how his struggles are impacting the team. He stated that Adames is happy the team is in first and knows they would be further ahead if he was hitting well. He also spoke about how he has tried everything to get it going at the plate, but just can’t find a groove.
Additionally, Curt Hogg, Milwaukee Brewers reporter for the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reported that Willy Adames showed up later than usual to the ballpark at Craig Counsell’s orders. Even though he is struggling Willy Adames has been smiling and keeping good vibes in the clubhouse every day.
Adames is slashing .201/.286/.376 this season and has 17 home runs. Last season he slashed .238/.298/.458 with 31 home runs. The drop-off in production is not what the Milwaukee Brewers were expecting from Adames after setting the franchise record for home runs at the shortstop position. Adames has had a rough season, but can still turn it around before the postseason. Maybe the day off will give him a needed mental break.
