The Milwaukee Brewers indicated last week that Wade Miley had a 50-50 shot at being available to pitch by the start of the season. A sore shoulder was listed as the issue putting his status in question. After a week’s time his odds have taken a significant turn.
Wade Miley gave updated odds on his availability for opening weekend.
Per Dominic Controneo, Brewers post game host for 620 WTMJ, Wade Miley threw a 17 pitch bullpen on Tuesday, March 5. Controneo indicated that everything went well and that Miley reported feeling great. He also said that the odds have shifted to 80-20 as to being ready for opening weekend.
When is opening weekend for the Milwaukee Brewers?
The Brewers will begin the 2024 season against the New York Mets. Opening day is Thursday, March 28. Milwaukee then has an off day Friday the 29th before playing again Saturday and Sunday. From a depth chart perspective Wade Miley is the teams presumed number two starter and would presumably make his season debut on Saturday, March 30.
What are the next steps for Wade Miley? ‘
Typically pitchers in Brewers camp will throw a few bullpen sessions, throw simulated games, and then make an actual Cactus League game appearance. Hopefully Wade Miley will be able to safely check all these boxes over the next three and a half weeks.
