Milwaukee Brewers starting pitcher Wade Miley is officially a free agent. The veteran southpaw declined his portion of a $10.00 MM mutual option and received a $1.00 MM buyout. This move will allow him to see what his value is on the open market in which the soon to be 37 year old will likely get more than the $10.00 MM option that he previously had with the Brew Crew.
A reunion with the Brewers is not out of the question, but they may have to be willing to pay more money and guarantee an option for 2025 in order to retain him. Milwaukee currently has a lot of question marks in the starting rotation and now if they are going to re-sign him they will have to compete against other interested ball clubs.
Following the news of him declining the mutual option fans seemed optimistic that he will return to the Brewers in 2024.

Hope he returns, pitched solidly all season long

Arnold will be busy working on Starting Pitching this offseason. With Woodruff shelved & Burnes likely to be traded, so much is unknown.

Was the obvious decision for him. He is going to want another 2 year deal (option) at this point. Would imagine he signs 2 year $18-25M incentive
based deal with $4-5M tied to the option. Maybe brewers feel comfortable bringing him back at that price.— Patrick (@Patrick54399640) November 4, 2023
Of course. After the year he had its his last chance to cash in on any type of solid offer.

I’m assuming he probably wants more than a one year deal? The money seemed pretty reasonable to me
