On Monday night, the Milwaukee Brewers took a resentful 3-2 loss in their first game of a three-game set against the Kansas City Royals. Yesterday, the Brewers were down 5-3 at one point, and then during the top of the ninth inning, Milwaukee scored three runs to make a comeback 6-5 victory. This third game against the Royals today will determine the winner of this Interleague play matchup.
This win gave the Brewers their 21st win of the season. They are currently tied with the 22-15 Chicago Cubs for first place in the NL Central. Kansas City sits in third place in the AL Central with a 21-16 record, they are two and a half games behind the Cleveland Guardians for first place in the division.

Both teams would be scoreless during the first inning of play. During the top of the second inning, Brewers first baseman Rhys Hoskins hit a solo shot to center field. In the next at-bat, third baseman Joey Ortiz went back to back with Hoskins as he ripped a solo homer to left-center field to give Milwaukee a quick 2-0 lead.
A few innings later during the bottom of the fifth inning, Royals center fielder Kyle Isbel hit an RBI single to left field to cut his team’s deficit in half. Three batters later, Royals third baseman Vinnie Pasquantino gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead by smashing a two-run double into the right-center gap. In the next at-bat catcher Salvador Pérez rocketed an RBI double to the left field wall making the Royals up by two runs.

Pinch hitter Andruw Monasterio hit an RBI single into right field, helping his team make this game a one-run difference. However, Pasquantino again gave the Royals a two-run advantage when he smacked an RBI single into center field. Milwaukee went into the top of the ninth inning down 5-3. With runners on first and second base with two outs Brewers shortstop Willy Adames cracked a three-run go-ahead home run to left-center field. The Brewers would hold it down during the bottom of the ninth inning to secure the win.

Brewers starting pitcher Colin Rea pitched four and two third innings allowing four runs on seven hits, and a walk while striking out two. Catcher William Contreras and second baseman Brice Turang were the only Brewers that recorded multiple hits. Adames went one for four with his clutch three-run home run. Royals starter Seth Lugo pitched six and two third innings allowing three runs on six hits, and a walk while striking out five. Vinnie Pasquantino went three for five with three RBIs in the loss.
