One Milwaukee Brewers rookie was left out of Sunday’s lineup during the Brew Crews series finale against the Texas Rangers. Rookies Joey Wiemer, Sal Frelick, Andruw Monasterio, and Brice Turang have all played key roles on the team this season, but a cautious approach was taken when Sal Frelick tweaked his hamstring running out a ground ball the day before.
Milwaukee Brewers rookie Sal Frelick is dealing with a minor hamstring issue.
Both Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel and Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reported the news on Sal Frelick’s hamstring. The consensus was that he tweaked it running out a ground ball, it is not serious, and they just wanted to keep him off of his feet because Monday is an off day for the team.
Through 26 games played Sal Frelick has had a major impact on the Brewers. He has great bat to ball skills, incredible plate discipline, and plays excellent defense. His slash line after his first career 76 at-bats is .250/.388/.421 in which 18 walks is attributing to his high on-base percentage and he has just 14 strikeouts.
Milwaukee has a two game series against the Minnesota Twins up next that will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday this week. Thursday is another rest day, so it will be interesting to see if Sal Frelick is used in game action in the upcoming series or not.
