Former Milwaukee Brewers President of Baseball Operations David Stearns is currently employed with the Brew Crew in an advisory role. His contract with Milwaukee expires at the end of the 2023 season, but per a report he has been able to make contact with outside organizations since the passing of the August 1 trade deadline. Per Ken Rosenthal and Will Sammon at The Athletic he has talked with two different teams about future opportunities.

Sought after Milwaukee Brewers executive David Stearns has been in contact with the New York Mets and Houston Astros (report).
According to the report from The Athletic David Stearns is “down the road” in discussions about being the Mets next President of Baseball Operations. However, he supposedly has spoken with the Houston Astros as well in which they previously employed him as an assistant GM from 2012 to 2015.
Additionally Rosenthal and Sammon indicate that David Stearns does indeed want to return to a job in baseball. Brewers GM Matt Arnold was on The Show with MLB Insider Joel Sherman earlier in which he made it appear as if Stearns was still considering opportunities outside of baseball due to the burnout he experienced previously. This appears to not be the case and that he is “re-energized”.
All signs are currently pointing towards David Stearns returning to a high executive level position in baseball outside of Milwaukee and it could happen soon.
