The Milwaukee Brewers are done with the month of July and are looking to make a push to make the postseason. The team finished 14-11 in the month and five losses came against the Braves who hold the league’s best record. While the offense failed to break through in July, the pitching played a huge role in keeping the Brewers in the division race. Corbin Burnes was named NL Pitcher of the Month and Devin Williams was named NL Reliever of the Month for their outstanding efforts in July.
Milwaukee Brewers Stars Deserving of Recognition
Corbin Burnes was back in Cy Young form in July and was named to the All-Star Game as well. There were rumors that Burnes could be traded, but Burnes told Adam McCalvy that Matt Arnold himself told Burnes he wouldn’t be going anywhere at the deadline. It seems like since that news broke Corbin Burnes has been lights out. He posted a 1.85 ERA in July in 39 IP. His 4-1 record came with a .115 BAA, 0.72 WHIP and 47 K.

Burnes was not the only Milwaukee Brewers pitcher to earn honors for July. As important as Burnes was in July, Devin Williams may have been even more important. The Brewers have not won games by large margins often this year and last month was no different. Devin Williams is one of the best closers in the game and was recognized for his recent success. In July, Williams had 10 SV in 11.2 IP. He posted a 1.54 ERA, .171 BAA, 0.94 WHIP and 21 K. Without Devin Williams it’s not a stretch to say the Milwaukee Brewers would be out of the NL Central race.
