The Milwaukee Brewers are entering the holidays and end of the calendar year in an intriguing spot. They currently are teetering on the brink of putting together a competitive team for the 2024 season versus entering a mini-build year.

So far this off-season the moves that GM Matt Arnold and company have made have not fully supported one clear direction. Hovering in this gray area has resulted in an off-season that at times has lacked excitement. Jackson Chourio’s historic contract extension has been the biggest headline, but otherwise they have made a few minor additions in 1B/DH Jake Bauers, INF Oliver Dunn, C Eric Haase, and RHP Taylor Clarke while also shedding payroll by non-tendering Brandon Woodruff and trading away Tyrone Taylor and Adrian Houser.

In the spirit of the holidays the purpose of this article will be to take a look at two gifts that principal owner Mark Attanasio can provide to liven up the off-season.
Milwaukee Brewers: Two gifts Mark Attanasio can provide this holiday season.
- Sign another player to a contract extension.
Having Jackson Chourio under contract until at least 2031 is exciting. Branching off of that Christian Yelich is in line to be in Milwaukee alongside him until at least 2028, but having one more player locked up closer to the turn of the decade would help provide some stability in the lineup.
Corbin Burnes has likely priced himself out of Milwaukee’s range, but other key players like Willy Adames, Devin Williams, and William Contreras could be open to contract extension talks. If Mark Attanasio would be willing to invest in one of these players long term that would certainly create a positive buzz around the team.

- Sign a free agent designated hitter to a contract.
Since the implementation of the universal designated hitter the Brewers have not had luck getting production at the position. Andrew McCutchen had a down year by his standards his only season in Milwaukee and Jesse Winker failed to rebound a season ago.
There still are some intriguing free agent options available that include Jorge Soler and J.D. Martinez. The big question is if Mark Attanasio will give the green light to Matt Arnold in order to spend a little bit more extra on either of these two.
