The Milwaukee Brewers starting pitching depth is being tested early on in the 2023 season. Currently their top two pitchers in Brandon Woodruff and Corbin Burnes are dealing with injuries, Adrian Houser is on a minor league rehab assignment, and Aaron Ashby plus Jason Alexander are on the 60-day injured list. With starting pitching being stretched this thin early on in the season, the recent news surrounding Madison Bumgarner being designated for assignment has caught the eye of several Brewers fans.

Madison Bumgarner DFA: 4 possible landing spots for the veteran pitcher, plus whether he’s worth a shot.
NY Mets, Milwaukeee Brewers, St Louis Cardinals & Texas Rangers may show interest since League Minimum Salary can sign Bumgarner. Arizona Diamondbacks owe him $30 milllion.⚾️ pic.twitter.com/O3EiB8K70B— Gary McMurrain (@GarySonnyChiba) April 20, 2023
Madison Bumgarner signed a five year $85 million contract prior to the 2020 season. With being designated for assignment the Arizona Diamondbacks are committing to paying his the remaining $34 million that he is owed. Once he clears waivers and becomes a free agent any team can sign him for the league minimum salary.

It will be interesting to see where Madison Bumgarner ends up. He has played for just the San Francisco Giants and Arizona Diamondbacks throughout his 15 year career. At 33 years old, some team will likely sign him for the league minimum.
