The Milwaukee Bucks have officially gotten themselves out of their recent slump. This is after they produced a huge win on Wednesday night against the Orlando Magic, 117-99. That’s now two wins in two nights for the Bucks following their 104-91 blowout win over the league-best Boston Celtics on Tuesday.
At this point, the players are able to look back on their previous downturn with a bit of perspective.
Milwaukee Bucks News: Khris Middleton Calls Out Team’s Complacency
Khris Middleton did not suit up on Wednesday against Orlando as he was given his usual night off on the tail end of a back-to-back set. The three-time All-Star, however, will play a crucial role in Milwaukee’s last two remaining regular season games, especially with Giannis Antetokounmpo sidelined.
For his part, Middleton reflected on Milwaukee’s recent four-game skid now that they’ve gotten back to winning ways. According to the veteran swingman, the Bucks are guilty of being too complacent with their opponents:
“Maybe we’re playing at the level of our competition, which is something you can’t do,” Middleton said, via Jim Owczarski of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. “If you want to be a great team you have to be great all the time. I think that’s something we have to focus on and try to figure out. I mean, once the playoffs come every team is great so hopefully we rise to the occasion.”
All Three of the teams who handed Bucks losses last week were sub-.500 squads. As Middleton said, it doesn’t matter who you’re up against. You have to bring it every single night.
Middleton has also sent a stern warning to his squad about what to expect in the playoffs. The 32-year-old has been in his fair share of postseason wars in the past, and he knows all too well that this type of complacency just won’t hack it come May.
