The Milwaukee Brewers won two out of three games in their last series against the Orioles in Baltimore coming out with a record of 10-4. Milwaukee is one of the few teams left in the MLB that has not lost a series thus far during this 2024 regular season. The Brewers headed back home for a three-game matchup with the San Diego Padres with the first game of the series starting on Jackie Robinson Day. Last night, the Brewers could not get the job done, in particular starter Joe Ross, who gave up six earned runs on nine hits in Milwaukee’s 7-3 loss. Hopefully, this team finds a way to win the last two games of this home series.
Milwaukee Brewers Starter Limited in 7-3 Loss to the Padres
In the bottom of the first inning with runners on first and season base, Brewers shortstop Willy Adames hit an RBI single that got past Padres shortstop Ha-Seong Kim and rolled into the outfield. Two innings later, Brewers rookie right fielder Jackson Chourio blasted a two-run home run into left field. During the top of the fourth inning, Ha-Seong Kim got the first run on the board for the Padres by hitting an RBI single. Kim also hit into a double play but with quick speed, he ran to first base safely. Milwaukee held a 3-1 lead through four innings of action.
Padres Six Run Fifth Inning
An inning later, Padres right fielder Fernando Tatís Jr. hit an RBI groundout to Brewers second baseman Brice Turang. With Jake Cronenworth at the plate, Brewers starting pitcher Joe Ross threw a wild pitch that allowed Tyler Wade to score, tying the game up at three runs a piece. Two batters later, was Manny Machado, who hit the ball with some impact to Brice Turang. The second baseman tried to backhand toss the ball to Willy Adames, but it failed miserably allowing another Padres run to score, giving Machado the RBI single.
Three batters later, Padres center fielder Jackson Merrill ripped a two-run single into left-center field. Finally, San Diego’s catcher Luis Campusano hit an RBI single out to left field, giving the Padres a 7-3 lead and the eventual win. Milwaukee could not get any runs across in the last seven innings of the game, bringing their record to now 10-5.
