The Milwaukee Brewers lost a frustrating extra inning game against the Colorado Rockies on Tuesday night by a score of 7-3. Wade Miley pitched six innings of one run ball and handed the ball over to the bullpen in the seventh with a one run lead.
Unfortunately reliever Elvis Peguero allowed back to back solo home runs that gave Colorado the lead. In the bottom of the seventh the Brewers countered with a game tying home run from Andruw Monasterio.
The score remained tied until the 10th inning. At that time manager Craig Counsell brought in left-handed reliever Andrew Chafin in which the Rockies had two switch hitters and a right-handed batter due up to begin the inning. Unfortunately of the 11 pitches he threw, eight were all out of the zone and he walked in the go-ahead run.
After facing three batters a pitching change to rookie Abner Uribe was made. Unfortunately he too struggled to throw strikes as he sustained a pitch clock violation and then threw seven straight balls to bring in two more runs.
Following this disastrous 10th inning Milwaukee Brewers fans were furious with the bullpen decisions made that led to a Colorado Rockies victory.
Counsell needs to take some blame if the #Brewers lose today. Two guys he used in a 12-1 game yesterday gave up runs in high leverage…and Uribe didn’t pitch in either spot.
And now you out the rookie in a bases loaded, 0 outs spot.

Chafin let the team down and putting uribe in during that spot was fundamentally unfair. Questionable decisions by counsell tonight.

CC does not know how to handle a pitching staff. For him he just likes his own consistency. Starter 5+ then the same 3 reliever 7, 8 and 9 and get overused. And Adames hitting 4th regardless

Counsell just handed the Rockies this game. First Paguero in the 7th. Then Chafin to start the 10th? You can’t put Uribe in that position. Also why are we benching Frelick who takes against lefties. Enough with this bullshit. @yelichfans
