The Milwaukee Brewers signed two relief pitchers to minor league contracts that included an invitation to big league camp. Joining the organization is left-hander Jared Koenig and right-hander Enoli Paredes. Both have experience pitching at the major league level.
Jared Koenig and Enoli Paredes have signed minor league contracts with the Milwaukee Brewers.
Most recently both of these pitchers last made big league appearances in 2022. Jared Koenig was last in the major leagues with the Oakland Athletics and Enoli Paredes the Houston Astros. Both spent the 2023 season in the minor leagues and elected free agency in November.
In the past southpaw Jared Koenig was primarily a starting pitcher, but in 2023 he transitioned fully into the bullpen. Last year he did not throw more than two innings at a time and finished with a 3.81 ERA across two levels in the Texas Rangers organization. On the mound his fastball/sinker sits in the upper 80s, he has a big hooking curveball, and he deployed a cutter for the first time last year as well.
Enoli Paredes is a high velocity pitcher who pairs a slider with his fastball. During the shortened 2020 season he tossed 20 innings for the Astros and posted a 3.05 ERA with four holds. A season after that he made just 12 appearances for Houston and then three in 2022. At 28 years old he joins the Brewers with no minor league options remaining.
As mentioned both of these pitchers signed minor league contracts. They would have to be added to the 40-man roster prior to pitching for the Brewers at the big league level, but adding guys with major league experience is never a bad idea and improves the depth of the farm system.
