The Milwaukee Brewers made a flurry of roster moves prior to their Wednesday night game against the St. Louis Cardinals. In total four players were impacted as Julio Teheran was reinstated from the IL, JB Bukauskas was recalled, Colin Rea was optioned to the minor leagues, and Elvis Peguero was placed on the 15-day IL.
High leverage Milwaukee Brewers reliever Elvis Peguero was placed on the 15-day IL with elbow swelling.
Elvis Peguero was acquired last off season as a part of the package deal received when Milwaukee sent Hunter Renfroe to the Los Angeles Angels. He quickly worked his way up to a high leverage relief role and was often times being used in the seventh inning.

With the Brewers consistently playing close games he was being used quite frequently. His 59 appearances is a career high and is currently the third most on the team. However, prior to the announcement of him landing on the IL with elbow swelling the Brewers had been backing off his usage. Since September 9 he has appeared in just two games.
Looking ahead Elvis Peguero’s IL move is retroactive to September 17. He will be eligible to be re-instated prior to the post season starting and manager Craig Counsell did indicate that they anticipate him being ready for a Wild Card Series in the playoffs.
For whatever reason should Elvis Peguero not be able to return for the post season rookie Abner Uribe would likely continue to get looks in high leverage. The youngster has been phenomenal since being promoted to the big leagues in July and he had already played his way into close game situations prior to Elvis Peguero landing on the IL.
