The Milwaukee Brewers and Cincinnati Reds played an action packed game on Saturday afternoon. In the end Cincinnati won by a score of 8-5. Some highlights from the game include Willy Adames having a multi home run game, Elly De La Cruz stealing three bases with one of them being home, Abner Uribe making his MLB debut, and a pair of ejections.
In regards to the ejections both were on the Brewers side. Manager Craig Counsell and third baseman Brian Anderson were tossed from the game in the ninth inning. Home plate umpire John Tumpane removed Counsell from the game after a balk call on Abner Uribe and third base umpire Ryan Blakney tossed Brian Anderson.
Milwaukee Brewers: Craig Counsell and Brian Anderson reveal what they were ejected for against the Cincinnati Reds.

After John Tumpane issued the balk on Abner Uribe Craig Counsell briefly came out of the dugout for an explanation. His back was turned to the home plate umpire and he was nearly in the dugout when he was tossed. After that more arguing ensued and in the middle of that sequence Brian Anderson was subtly ejected by third base umpire Ryan Blakney.
Following the game Craig Counsell had this to say about the balk as well as ejection.
“I didn’t think he balked. That’s first. I asked for an explanation and then I was walking away.”
Brian Anderson had a similar experience.
“I was asking the third base umpire for an explanation on the call and was rung.”
The Brewers got called for two total balks in this game. John Tumpane issued one on starting pitcher Colin Rea early on in the game and then as mentioned above Abner Uribe in the ninth inning.
