Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell and former lead executive David Stearns have been involved in rumors to the New York Mets for quite some time. Both are currently on expiring contracts and could pursue opportunities together or separately elsewhere. According to one MLB Insider friends of the Brewers skipper are expecting him not to go to New York and rather he will take at least one year off.

MLB Insider leaks the 2024 plan for current Milwaukee Brewers skipper Craig Counsell in which the New York Mets are not included.
In Bob Nightengale’s latest notebook he revealed information pertaining to Craig Counsell. He reports that we should not expect him to follow David Stearns to New York and rather plan on him taking at least one year away from baseball.
“Don’t expect Milwaukee Brewers manager Craig Counsell to follow David Stearns to New York, if Stearns indeed becomes their president of baseball operations. Counsell tells friends that he likely will take at least a year off to be around his family, with two sons playing collegiate baseball and two daughters in high school.”
If true this report from Bob Nightengale would not be surprising. Brewers GM Matt Arnold and Principal Owner Mark Attanasio have hinted that Craig Counsell can have a new contract at any time, so it is up to him if he wants to remain in baseball in 2024 or not.
