According to some Green Bay Packers fans, we have ourselves a savior this season. Is it his ability on the field? Maybe it is his personality on and off the field or both? Malik Willis seems to be named the savior so far this season. It seems like his passion for the game is clenching the attention of the fans this season.

It is refreshing to see players express their love for the game while leaving the politics behind. For some, playing football professionally is just a way to pay the bills, this doesn’t seem to be the case for Malik Willis. We know he is popular on the field, it is the off the field characteristics that are gaining attention.

Refreshing. Not a popular word these days in the NFL or the Green Bay Packers world as of late  if you ask me. I can see it and it seems many fans can see it. Willis is bringing the joy back to the game and his team. You don’t have to tell me, I know it is still early in the season. Hopefully Willis keeps this child-like mentality throughout 2024 and into 2025. He gives everything he has on the field and then embodies a happy kid in his interviews. Lately,  we get to see the person behind the jersey.

In a world where we are one with our screens, we can get to know Willis…social media isn’t so bad after all in this case . You see Willis on the field but get to know Malik in interviews. Watching him speak reminds me of watching little league. Some kids are there to win, while those like Malik are there to play the game they love.  Some are throwing equipment on the sidelines, while other are quiet and building up their teammates.

More players should start looking to Willis for inspiration and remember why they started to play this game in the first place. The energy the NFL puts into the games is what we the fans can feel. I will leave you with a recent quote from Willis, the quote that really got me thinking about his personality lately and not just the player. It was a simple little quote from him that I feel has a lot of meaning behind it for him personally.

“I’m always having fun; I get to play football” said Willis
