Matt LaFleur Has High Praise For This Rookie

The Packers 2022 rookie class has looked great so far. Many members of the class are being asked to step into huge roles. While every draft will have its misses, the Packers look like they have some potential stars. At least, Matt LaFleur seems to think so. Matt LaFleur has high praise for rookie offensive lineman Zach Tom.

Matt LaFleur’s Praise For Zach Tom

Matt LaFleur has been pleased with rookie Zach Tom's development as a rookie: "We're excited to see how he grows as a pro. I think he has a big-time future."

    — Ryan Wood (@ByRyanWood) September 15, 2022

The Packers obviously liked Tom coming out of Wake Forest. With how deep the Packers are on the offensive line, the team was hoping that Tom would contribute some time in the future. I don’t think they expected him to be this good. He was one of the highest rated offensive lineman in the preseason and is now in the mix for the starting guard position. He even spent some time at tackle and excelled. LaFleur has been very pleased saying, “I think he has a big-time future.” For Matt LaFleur to praise Zach Tom like this says a lot.

    The Future Is Now

Packers rookie OL Zach Tom gets first-team work at new position

If it were up to the Packers fans, Zach Tom would be starting. LaFleur admitted earlier in the week that Tom would be competing for the starting job every week. With how bad the offensive line looked on Sunday, I would be eager to try anything new. Matt LaFleur’s praise of Zach Tom could signal, he is thinking about starting Tom. Because of an injury to Jon Runyan Jr., Tom was inserted into the lineup. Aaron Jones immediately went for 29 yards running behind Tom. I do not think this is a coincidence. At some point the results will speak for themselves and I think the Packers will have no choice but to start Zach Tom. ,

High Praise For A Lot Of Rookies

There has been no shortage of praise for a lot of rookies. Despite a rough start, Aaron Rodgers was complimentary of rookie wideouts Romeo Doubs and Christian Watson. Quay Walker looks amazing and could arguably be the Packers best defensive player by the end of the season. LaFleur’s praise of rookie Zach Tom puts him in the list of players the Packers love.

By the end of the season, I predict that Zach Tom will have firmly cemented his starting role. The coaching staff loves him. The fans love him. He plays well. What more could you ask for? Zach Tom looks like the latest in Packers great draft picks.
