A big topic of conversation this week has been the Packers offensive line. Something has to change but it has been unclear exactly what Matt LaFleur and his staff are thinking. When asked, LaFleur gave a cryptic response about the Packers offensive line for Sunday.
Matt LaFleur Gives Cryptic Response About Packers Offensive Line
Do you know who your starting five on the offensive line is?
Matt LaFleur: "Maybe."@mattschneidman: Just tell me, I won't tell anyone.
LaFleur: "OK."
Then nothing.

Matt LaFleur is known to be a coach that keeps plans a secret. He often likes to play with the media a little bit as well. When asked if he knew the starting five for the offensive line this week, he responded with “Maybe”. Then in a little bit of playful banter another reporter asked to know and promised he wouldn’t tell anyone. LaFleur responded with “OK” and then moved on. This is a fairly normal interaction between LaFleur and the media especially during a time of struggle for the team.
LaFleur Is Probably Deploying Gamesmanship
It makes sense why Matt LaFleur does not want to reveal anything. I’m sure he wants to keep Washington guessing about exactly what they will go up against on Sunday. He also could change his mind and doesn’t want to put anything out there right now. My money is that he doesn’t want to reveal anything for the opponent. With the strength of the Commander’s defensive line, it makes sense why he would not want to give them any type of advantage. Ultimately, something is going to change. Everyone has opinions on exactly how much should change but the fact is that last week did not work.
There are a lot of things that have to change for the Packers but is starts on the line. Even if everything else is working perfectly, if the line cannot block it doesn’t matter. Even if the line can be average, it will make a massive difference. The Packers desperately need a win against Washington this week. Who plays on the offensive line will be a big story no matter what happens.
