The Las Vegas Raiders are expected to be getting back a vital piece to their offense.
On Monday, it was announced that Josh Jacobs will report to the team before their Week 1 matchup against the Denver Broncos. When exactly Jacobs plans to report is unclear, but this is great news for the Raiders to welcome back their All-Pro running back.
Las Vegas Raiders Josh Jacobs Ending Holdout; Will Report Before Week 1
The Las Vegas Raiders get back a dynamic offensive presence and a top-five running back in the NFL.
Last season, Jacobs had a career year, rushing for 1,653 yards, 4.9 yards per carry, and 12 touchdowns. He also added 53 catches for 400 yards and 7.5 yards per catch. In Raiders Head Coach Josh McDaniels’ offense, Jacobs fits what he likes to do. Going back to his days as offensive coordinator in New England, McDaniels has enjoyed having running backs who can catch the ball out of the backfield. Now Jacobs is more dynamic than the running backs McDaniels had in New England, and the Raiders should have paid him top-dollar because it can’t be replicated what he provides to Las Vegas.
Even All-Pro WR Davante Adams made his feelings known that they need Josh Jacobs to get far as a team.
Adams said the following amid Jacobs’ holdout:
“If we really want to have a shot at winning the Super Bowl and having all the elite aspirations that we do, we’re going to need that guy,” Adams said. “So I’m praying that we can still figure something out, but also understanding where Josh is coming from and trying to coach him through it at the same time.” (Via NBC Sports)
Can the Raiders Make a Run With Josh Jacobs Back?
The Las Vegas Raiders will never compete for a Super Bowl as long as that brain trust is there. Owner Mark Davis made the fatal mistake of hiring an assistant closely linked to Bill Belichick. Those assistants try to bring the Patriot Way to other organizations by bringing in everybody linked to the Patriots organization,
There’s a problem with that: You can’t replicate what the Patriots did because Tom Brady and Belichick made New England a dynasty. That’s hard to duplicate in the NFL and why New England assistants don’t succeed in other stops.
While it’s a nice thought for Adams now that Josh Jacobs is coming back, we will still never cue the duck boats in Caesar’s Palace for Las Vegas.
