The Green Bay Packers exceeded most fans expectations in 2023.  After nearly advancing to the NFC Championship game, the Packers have shown they have a young and talented roster to build off of.  Jordan Love and company showed this offense can hang points on any defense.  The coaching staff is already taking the necessary steps to get the defense up to snuff as well.

Today, however, news has surfaced that the Kansas City Chiefs will be signing a former Packers defender to boost their chances at advancing to the Super Bowl.

For the AFC Championship Game against the Baltimore Ravens, the Kansas City Chiefs have elevated two players from the practice squad to the 53-man roster.

Mike Pennel and Keith Taylor were elevated for Sunday’s game, the team announced on Saturday. As DT Derrick Nnadi was placed on injured reserve recently, Pennel was expected to be elevated.

For the divisional round playoff game against the Buffalo Bills, Pennel recorded two tackles and two stops in 40 defensive snaps. Having played in Super Bowl LIV and Super Bowl LV, he is a veteran with plenty of playoff experience for the Chiefs.

In May 2014, Pennel signed with the Green Bay Packers after going undrafted in the 2014 NFL Draft. . He joined Jayrone Elliott as undrafted players to make the Packers roster. Pennel played in 13 games during his rookie season in 2014. During the 2015 season, Pennel started five of 16 games, made 24 tackles, one sack, and forced a fumble.
