The Green Bay Packers continue to workout players throughout the season. This latest batch of potential Packers involved a speedy WR that played at the University of Virginia and then in Charlotte under Matt Rhule. Former Panthers WR Ra’Shaun Henry officially got a workout with the Green Bay Packers.
Who is Former Panthers WR Ra’Shaun Henry?
Ra’Shaun Henry joined the Virginia Cavaliers for his final two seasons of eligibility after graduating from St. Francis. He led the NEC in receiving yards and receptions during his final season. The NEC also named him first-team all-conference. Henry signed on in Carolina as part of their undrafted free agent Panthers WR class. The 6-foot-3, 190-pounder appeared in 21 games for the Cavaliers between 2020 and 2021, amassing 41 receptions for 809 yards and seven touchdowns.
Ra’Shaun Henry certainly impressed at his Pro-Day. He finished with a vertical jump of 38.5, which consequently would have ranked sixth among receivers at the NFL Combine. He also showcased his speed during the event, running 4.43, 4.42 40-yard dash. The Panthers officially released the WR on Sept. 5. Henry, however, wasn’t the only player that Green Bay worked out today. Per Rob Demovsky, the Packers worked out the following personnel in addition to the former Panthers WR:
- RB Ryquell Armstead, Temple (2019 fifth-round pick (JAX))
- RB Max Borghi, Washington St.
- RB Nate McCrary, Saginaw Valley
- RB Ty’Son Williams, BYU
- WR Ra’Shaun Henry, UVa
- TE Jared Scott, Idaho St.
- CB/KR Corey Ballentine, Washburn (2019 sixth-round pick (NYG))
It will certainly be interesting to see if any players, including former Panthers WR Ra’Shaun Henry, are signed to the practice squad. I wouldn’t be surprised if some are with the many injuries to Packers WR and CB positions. As a result, this roster has some positions that may be open for competition.
