The Milwaukee Brewers and New York Mets played a drama filled game on Opening Day.  That game saw the Brewers pitching staff throw a combined one-hitter, Jackson Chourio star in his debut, Christian Yelich collect three hits, and the benches cleared after an incident between Rhys Hoskins and Jeff McNeil at second base.

A day later Milwaukee again got the best of New York and they won by a score of 7-6.  Rhys Hoskins led the way offensively with four runs batted in but six total Brewers batters collected multiple hits.  Additionally tempers flared again in which Hoskins was involved.

During the first inning Rhys Hoskins stepped up to the plate with two runners on base.  He was greeted by a loud boos from the Mets crowd, but ended up hitting a two RBI single.  This was the first time that the New York crowd went silent.

An at-bat later Rhys Hoskins again silenced the crowd.  This time he demolished a pitch and pulled it into left field for a two run home run.  Hoskins finished the game 3-4 with a walk and four runs batted in.

In total Milwaukee collected 16 hits in this game.  Six of their players had multiple hit games.  William Contreras and Rhys Hoskins both had three hit games whereas Christian Yelich, Willy Adames, Brice Turang, and Jackson Chourio all had two hits.  Yelich has begun the 2024 season with back-to-back multiple hit performances and Chourio collected his first multiple hit game.

New York Mets pitcher Yohan Ramirez was ejected after throwing behind Rhys Hoskins.

At one point the Mets were trailing by a score of 6-2 and frustration was boiling in New York.  Whether it was intentional or not Mets pitcher Yohan Ramirez ended up getting ejected his first pitch of their at-bat went behind him.  Ramirez also appeared to charge at Hoskins after the pitch.

Additional notes from this game includes Oliver Dunn collecting his first career hit and Edwin Diaz returning to the mound for the first time since sustaining an injury during the 2023 World Baseball Classic.

Game three of this series will be Sunday, March 31 at 12:40 PM CT.  Given all the drama that has occurred already it will be a must watch game on Easter.
