If Rashan Gary had his way, rookie Kenneth Odumegwu would have all the minutes he needs to fully realize his potential for the Green Bay Packers. Of course, that can become a reality, especially if the Nigerian-born linebacker finds a way to take a leap next season.
Born in the Anambra state of southeast Nigeria, Odumegwu found himself playing for the Packers’ practice squad in 2023 as an international exemption. This occurred because of several tryouts and combines that led him to play for Green Bay.
For his part, Gary was a top recruit in college football and knows something about becoming better in the NFL. The linebacker took Odumegwu under his wing during the past season and taught him what he knows to improve.
Fortunately, the young rookie soaked in all that he could to get better from the veterans around him, Gary included. His first season in Green Bay secured a reserve/futures contract that can lead Odumegwu to greater heights if he works hard for his future in the NFL.

Along with earning the respect of his teammates, Odumegwu made such a leap since his 14-snap appearance in a preseason game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Gary shares his thoughts about the rookie in this article posted on the Packers’ official website:
“His get-off got 10 times faster,” Gary said. “I don’t want to tell his moves, but he’s got two special moves that if he keeps working, he could tear some of our tackles up coming back in camp. I’m loving his progression. I love his effort. He loves being around the guys. He really doesn’t take it for granted.”
With that kind of talent, there are a lot of reasons to be excited about Odumegwu’s future with the Packers. When the new campaign starts, a lot of eyes will definitely be on the rookie, along with Jordan Love’s progression after a breakout season this year.
