Playing In Brazil Would Be An Incredible Opportunity For The Packers
The Packers finally submitted to international pressure in 2022, conceding a home game to London. Even though they lost as 8-point favorites on the day, their trip across the Atlantic proved to be a commercial success.
It is unlikely that any of the 36 London games have received such a one-sided response as what the Packers received on the streets of North London and inside Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. There is no doubt that they are a global brand.
Ironically, the Packers are one of just seven franchises not participating in the NFL’s Global Markets Program. Perhaps they do not want to suggest to the league office that they are open to losing another game at Lambeau Field – all 8/9 home games are valuable to Green Bay’s economy.
According to Daire Carragher of 24/7 Sports:
Per the NFL, Brazil has 38 million American football fans.
Per NFL Brasil, 12.5% of their fans support the Packers.
Put those numbers together, that’s 4.8 million Packers fans in Brazil.
The population of Wisconsin is 5.7 million.
