The Green Bay Packers can consider themselves lucky for not having to go through an arduous and infuriating process of finding a reliable starting quarterback.
It did not even take the Packers long to know what exactly they have with Jordan Love, who immediately proved himself as a capable QB1 for the franchise, right after they parted ways with future Hall of Famer Aaron Rodgers. Other teams aren’t as lucky, which is why a number of them are looking for a quarterback in the upcoming 2024 NFL Draft.
The Rams Could Copy the Green Bay Packers’ Jordan Love Blueprint
The Los Angeles Rams could be going in that direction with their 19th overall pick in the draft. Christian Williams of Football Guys, suggested in his mock draft that the Rams can go with JJ McCarthy, whom LA can stash behind Matthew Stafford in the same way Love was for a couple of years in Green Bay before getting the keys to the offense.
19. Los Angeles Rams – J.J. McCarthy (QB – Michigan)
The Rams looked poised to make another run at the Super Bowl with how well their last draft class performed, but they must keep an eye on the future. McCarthy is the perfect McVay quarterback, and sitting him behind an all-time great like Stafford is the ideal situation. The Rams take the Packers route and draft a quarterback a year or two too early but potentially get a franchise guy.
It can be recalled that the Packers barely used Love in his first two years in the league, as he had to spend those seasons in the shadows of Rodgers. Their patience on Love paid off big time in 2023 when he capably steered the Packers’ offense on the field. In his first year as the Packers’ No. 1 option under center, Love, who was selected 26th overall by Green Bay at the 2020 NFL Draft, passed for 4,159 yards and 32 touchdowns with 11 interceptions across 17 games.
