As of early May, the Green Bay Packers are unsure where offensive lineman Jordan Morgan belongs on their team. Morgan has been participating in the Packers rookie minicamp to begin the month. Soon, he’ll join his veteran teammates for OTA practices later in May and in June.
The Green Bay Packers are trying to beef up the O-Line
The Packers selected Morgan with the No. 25 pick in the draft. They needed an offensive lineman with flexibility to join an offensive line that expected to have some players jump around before finding a starting five in training camp.
Morgan was a left tackle in Arizona. As a first-round pick, one would assume the Packers would try to see if he could be David Bakhtiari’s full-time replacement. The Packers released their All-Pro offensive tackle earlier this offseason after years of knee trouble. (Morgan suffered an ACL tear in college.) Before the draft, Rasheed Walker was penciled in as the Packers’ starting left tackle.
The Packers aren’t sure where Jordan Morgan will fit
Following the draft, there was speculation that Morgan could be moved to right tackle so the Packers could move Zach Tom to center. However, Morgan could also be moved to the inside part of the offensive line.
According to Rob Demovsky with ESPN, Packers offensive coordinator Adam Stenavich spoke about the team’s plans for Morgan. He’s not sure where Green Bay needs Morgan yet:
“[Morgan is] natural on the edge. … I just want to see where he fits best for us with our best five out there. That may be at tackle, it may not be.”
Stenavich added Morgan needs to work on his hand placement.

Fortunately, the Packers have a few weeks to figure out where Morgan fits on the offensive line. The mandatory portion of OTAs won’t begin until next month.
Will Morgan figure out where to place his hands by then?
