A lot of Green Bay Packers fans were eager to see how Jordan Love would perform as a first-year starter. Throughout a rough beginning, the Green Bay Packers coaching staff maintained that this would be a learning process and that the final product was far from settling. And while it is too early to compare this scenario to that of past quarterbacks who waited their turn, the signs as of late are looking increasingly promising.
Green Bay Packers QB Receives A Ringing Endorsement
Love received several highly acclaimed compliments from Brian Baldinger following the Green Bay Packers win against the Vikings. Baldinger played in the NFL for 11 seasons as a member of the Cowboys, Colts, and Eagles. His career span totaled 143 games throughout his playing time.
Now a contributor for the NFL Network, Baldinger was not hesitant in his approval for the starting signal caller.
He’s the future. They’ve got this position right. I’m not putting him in Bart Starr, or Brett Favre, or Aaron Rodgers category yet, but he’s the future.
And this tampered and reasoned analysis of Love for the Green Bay Packers is the correct one for now. Is it too soon to write his ballot for Canton at this moment of his career? Absolutely. But he is noticeably improving throughout the year, is attacking critical moments of the game head-on, and is making the plays that others simply struggle to make.
Who knows if it was first-year jitters, or needed acclimation time with head coach Matt LaFleur toward the beginning of the season? But as of late this team has been playing with impressive offensive capabilities, despite a young and injury-ridden wide receiver room.
The future for Jordan Love with the Green Bay Packers looks bright.
Green Bay Packers QB Comparisons
Throughout the broadcast, the throwing mechanics and big play abilities were likened to Favre and Rodgers. Baldinger had the same thoughts. Speaking on Love’s touchdown throw to Jayden Reed:
It looks like something Aaron Rodgers would have done in an MVP season. You know this type of effort, just the way he moves in the pocket. He’s got all young receivers.
Again it is too early and would not be fair to draw comparative expectations to the former MVPs quite yet. But the elements and seeds of a promising career are certainly taking root.
Especially with how other quarterbacks around the league are looking, having a steady starting caliber quarterback is proving to be invaluable.

A possible explanation for the lack of initial success that we saw from previous quarterbacks first starting is the new rules. Under the old way of doing things, practices were held more frequently, and pads were allowed for a greater amount of time.
While the latest moves are to help player safety, it does not limit the fact that players now see less practice time in a live-action setting. This could be part of why Love struggled earlier in the year.
There’s so much to like about what he has done. And he’s got to a couple of sticking points this year, but they’ve won their last two.
