One former Green Bay Packers player got some pretty brutal injury news today. After spending the first four years of his career in Green Bay Jamaal Williams has spent time with the Detroit Lions and now the New Orleans Saints.
Former Green Bay Packers Running Back Jamaal Williams Placed On Injured Reserve (IR)
Running back Jamaal Williams was placed on injured reserve on Saturday due to a hamstring issue. Following Monday’s win over the Carolina Panthers, Williams did not practice this week.
Williams is one of several players who will not play against the Green Bay Packers on Sunday.Earlier this week, the NFL announced Marcus Maye would serve a three-game suspension for violating its substance abuse policy.
The Saints will also be without starting outside cornerback Paulson Adebo after he injured his hamstring late this week in practice. An ankle injury also sidelining tight end Foster Moreau on Saturday.
Williams was drafted in the fourth round in the 2017 draft by Green Bay. He ended his tenure in Green Bay with 622 total touches, 1,985 yards rushing, 961 yards receiving and 18 total touchdowns. He averaged four yards a carry, and just under eight yards per reception.
In 2022 with the Detroit Lions he had a career high in both rushing yards and rushing touchdowns. He finished with 1,066 yards and 17 touchdowns.
